Afag Rizayeva, PhD

Afa is a Data Scientist specializing in remote sensing, land use, and conservation, with expertise in developing and implementing machine learning algorithms for medium and high-resolution satellite data analysis. Holding a PhD in Forestry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she also completed a PgDip in Wildlife Conservation at the University of Oxford. Afa holds a Master’s degree in Bioecology and a Bachelor’s degree in Ecology. Her research has centered on mapping historical land cover in the Caucasus mountains, to investigate land cover changes, and to evaluate their impact on wild habitats. Afa’s interdisciplinary background equips her to address complex environmental challenges with a data-driven approach.
