SIG was the lead facilitator for an ASEAN workshop, hosted by the Singapore National Environment Agency, to bring together approximately 30 ASEAN member state representatives (supported by four technical facilitators from Australia, the US and Indonesia) to examine best practice knowledge and activities in peatland fire management practices.

The workshop’s ambition was to create a short guidance document which captures the current practices and practical solutions that local land managers in the region can use to improve local fire management practices with the ambition of reducing unwanted fire ignitions in peatlands and to enable improvements in sustainable peatland management to occur without the use or need for fire in land development activities.
