SIG is proud to announce that Carrie Levine is the new co-lead for SIG’s Forest and Agriculture team! In addition to the work she does for this team (which she co-leads with Thomas Buchholz), Carrie also leads fuels and fire modeling efforts for First Street Foundation’s parcel-level fire risk analysis, as well as programs supporting California’s Wildfire and Forest Resilience Task Force. Carrie received her PhD in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management from the University of California, Berkeley.

In her time outside of work, Carrie and her husband, Jay, own and manage a bike shop called You Bet! Bicycle Sales and Service in Nevada City, California. The shop, which they opened in 2019, is a gateway to the amazing gravel roads and mountain bike trails that the northern Sierra has to offer. The shop is a community hub for their small town and hosts group rides, bikepacking campouts, and community events and workshops. You Bet! recently hosted an overnight bikepacking trip in the Tahoe National Forest which drew 50 riders from all over northern California.
