The SIG Carbon Aggregation Program (SCAP) is an initiative to increase forestlands managed for carbon sequestration by helping smaller landowners overcome financial and administrative barriers to participation.
Vermont Land Trust Aggregation
In order to promote sustainable forest management despite fragmented ownership, SIG teamed with academic and advocacy organizations in Vermont. The project we developed together allows landowners to pool resources and split transaction costs. With SIG taking on performance risk and covering project development costs, small landowners were able to enter the market without upfront out-of-pocket costs.

Carbon Credits with the White Mountain Apache Tribe
SIG serves as the forest carbon technical advisor to the White Mountain Apache Tribe (WMAT) for the Tribe’s Improved Forest Management California carbon projects.
Washington Rainforest Renewal Project
The Nature Conservancy hired Spatial Informatics Group to develop a carbon credit program on coastal rainforest on Washington State’s Olympic Peninsula. The Washington Rainforest Renewal Project seeks to leverage carbon financing to fund restoration efforts aimed at mimicking the characteristics of late-successional forests.
