Kyle Woodward is a research and spatial data scientist in the Natural Hazards and Environmental Mapping service areas at SIG. Kyle has extensive experience in developing data production pipelines and environmental monitoring systems using remotely sensed and other spatial data. He is a Google Developer Expert in Earth Engine and a Google Cloud certified Data Engineer and has provided Earth Engine training and capacity building worldwide. Kyle has several published research papers primarily in the professional remote sensing scientific journals, including machine learning applications for remote sensing and drone-based data applications. Prior to joining SIG, Kyle was a contractor for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where he developed high resolution community land cover datasets. To date, his contributions to SIG have included the development of fuels datasets and methodologies for wildfire risk modeling projects in the U.S., a land cover monitoring system for southern Africa, and various Google Earth Engine tools and training materials. Kyle holds a master’s in Geoscience and a post-baccalaureate GIS certificate from the University of North Carolina–Wilmington, as well as a bachelor’s in Geographic Science from James Madison University.
