John Dilger

Research Scientist and Google Earth Engine Specialist, Environmental Mapping

John Dilger is a Research Scientist and Google Earth Engine Specialist with the Environmental Mapping Team at Spatial Informatics Group. He is an experienced geospatial and environmental scientist with expertise in remote sensing, GIS, spatial analysis, water quality, and habitat restoration.
John has experience building interdisciplinary teams for remote sensing projects, automating methodologies for estimating forest aboveground biomass with lidar technology, and building tools using cloud-based remote sensing platforms such as Google Earth Engine.
Prior to joining SIG, John was a geoinformatics fellow with NASA DEVELOP at Ames Research Center, where he was part of a small team providing technical remote sensing, GIS, and coding support to more than 50 NASA DEVELOP project teams, particularly in the areas of water quality, ecological forecasting, urban development, and disasters.
John holds a bachelor’s in Environmental Science from the University of San Francisco (USF) and a GIS certification from USF’s Geospatial Analysis Lab.
