James Cwiklik is a Senior Carbon Manager at SIG with over five years of experience in forest carbon. Previously, he was Technical Manager and a Verification Forester with SCS Global Systems. In this role he operated as Manager of the domestic forest carbon offset team, lead auditor, technical specialist, and technical reviewer under various carbon standards and registries. This role included training and managing verification foresters and contractors, performing field audits, vegetation sampling, carbon quantification and modeling, as well as extensive document reviews. He is certified as a US Forest Carbon Specialist Lead Verifier under the California Air Resources Board and as a Project Expert under Climate Forward. Prior to his work with SCS Global Services, he was a Lead Consulting Forester with Davey Tree’s Resource Division supervising a team of foresters for Pacific Gas and Electric’s (PG&E) Community Pipeline Safety Initiative (CPSI) project. He has contributed to the efforts of eradicating the Asian longhorned beetle in southwestern Ohio as an Inventory Arborist and Quality Control Specialist. He also has experience as a Forest Technician Crew Leader having previously worked with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources performing forest inventories across northern Michigan.
Mr. Cwiklik has a Masters of Forestry from Michigan Technological University. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Pittsburgh, receiving a B.A. in Environmental Studies, with a minor in Religious Studies and a certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
