Elijah Dalton is a Google Earth Engine (GEE) Analyst on the Environmental Mapping Team, where he supports the development, testing, and documentation of GEE scripts for various SIG projects. Elijah holds a Bachelors of Science in environmental science with a concentration in biological sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in geography from the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). During his undergrad, Elijah completed an honors thesis titled, “Comparing metrics of wetland vegetation structure derived from UAS photogrammetric and LiDAR collections”. After completing his undergrad, Elijah interned with the NASA DEVELOP National Program utilizing GEE to improve crop classification mapping for the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service in Mato Grosso, Brazil. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Geoscience from the UNCW where he is on a NASA ROSES Equity and Environmental Justice funded project researching green infrastructure solutions to support flood mitigation and adaptation in coastal low-lying disadvantaged communities. He is also a teaching assistant in his advisor’s remote sensing in environmental analysis lab where the students are utilizing the ‘Cloud-Based Remote Sensing with Google Earth Engine: Fundamentals and Applications’ book for the first time at UNCW. Elijah is passionate about the environment and looks to apply his geospatial skill sets to tackle complex human-environmental topics.
