An economist specialized in policy impact assessment and monitoring,
Daniel has expertise in rural economic development, illegal crops substitution,
deforestation,
agricultural value chains and institutional strengthening. He has a mixed
, quantitative and qualitative background: B.A. in Economics from Los Andes University and
an MSc. in Global History from the London School of Economics. He is experienced
as a project
manager using mixed methods
and multidisciplinary approaches: qualitative research, GIS data and statistical analysis. Daniel has co-authored research papers for international journals and collaborates as consultant for international development institutions like USAID and IFAD in various countries.
He has extensive fieldwork experience and has conducted multidisciplinary research on many illegal activities: contraband, illegal crops, deforestation and coca growing. He shares his research through a regular Spanish-language column.
