Greenline Climate is a joint venture of SIG Carbon that provides development services for forest carbon credit projects, in particular those that reduce emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change.
The Greenline team leverages their deep carbon market experience, scientific training, and innovative carbon modeling technology to help landowners realize carbon revenues. Greenline’s staff of scientists trained in forestry, ecosystem biology, forest economics, and public policy have been developing carbon projects since the inception of carbon markets.
From turnkey, end-to-end carbon services to providing support for existing capacity through project feasibility, carbon quantification, verification, or credit sales, Greenline Climate’s services scale to meet landowners’ needs.
Climate change is an existential threat to human civilization, and appropriate forest management is one of the most effective and proven means for removing carbon dioxide, the primary driver, from the atmosphere. In recognition of this reality, recent decades have seen a profusion of carbon credit schemes, in which emitters buy credits from entities that are removing carbon dioxide from the air.
Management of forests for carbon is compatible with many other forest management objectives, including wildfire prevention, habitat restoration, watershed protection, and timber and non-timber forest products production. Moreover, the revenue from carbon credits can be leveraged for multiple objectives and can offset revenues incompatible with carbon sequestration.
But it can be difficult for forestland managers, particularly those operating on smaller holdings, to access carbon credits. Assessing sequestration, quantifying it, and packaging it for sale are specialties outside of established forest management.
The carbon markets are developing quickly, and standards and methodologies are evolving, so it requires special expertise to maximize the revenue potential of any given forest carbon project.
Greenline Climate’s approach of combining upfront transparency, flexibility, and cutting edge science means that landowners can expect fast, accurate measurement, clear financial projections, and seamless integration of carbon development into existing operations.
