Spatial Informatics Group is actively participating in the Low Emissions Development Strategies (LEDS) Global Partnership. Scott Muller of SIG co-chairs the Working Group on Sub-national Integration and is working in Latin America. Latin America’s urban areas are physically expanding at a rate three times faster than urban population growth. And while the revolutionary demand for infrastructure is a low carbon development opportunity— Financing Mechanisms for unlocking equitable rapid transformation (discontinuous change) remain a challenge. Indeed, the design and performance of the new urban world will define the success or failure of the global path to stay below 2ºC change.
