Spatial Informatics Group, in collaboration with Conway Conservation Group (CCG), Panorama Environmental, Prometheus Fire Consulting, and Fire Poppy Consulting, is in the midst of designing and authoring a comprehensive wildfire management plan across Stanford University owned lands that are composed of complex and dynamic fuel environments including a core campus, housing developments, open space, a biological preserve, land leases, and a national accelerator laboratory. In order to effectively plan vegetation and fuel treatments on highly visible and diverse lands, a tailored quantitative fire risk analysis was constructed to appropriately inform a treatment matrix and maintenance plan to reduce wildfire hazard while maintaining endemic ecosystem function on the entire 8,140 acres Stanford needs to manage.
