The SIG Unmanned Aerial System Team recently mapped an area of dense redwood forest in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The team used both an Ebee to generate high resolution, spatially correct imagery of forest canopy in the area. In addition they deployed a Mavic Pro and created the aerial 360 degree image of the study site which can be viewed here. Aerial imaging of forests allows land managers to better understand the landscapes they work on by providing valuable information for restoration and monitoring that simply cannot be seen from the ground.
